Authorizing the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to Apply for the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration Aquifer Storage and Recovery Project

WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority) is seeking New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) Infrastructure Planning and Development Division funding assistance for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Department of Interior, Small Surface Water and Groundwater Storage Projects for the Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project; and
WHEREAS, the ASR Project provides the ability to locally store San Juan-Chama water in the aquifer to meet future demand, particularly in years of limited surface water supply availability; and
WHEREAS, the ASR Project is a vital part of the Water Authority's 100-year Water Plan (Water 2120).
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WATER AUTHORITY:
Section 1. That an application be submitted to the New Mexico DFA Infrastructure Planning and Development Division for matching funding required in the Small Surface Water and Ground Water Storage Project grant funding assistance for the Arroyo del Oso Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project.
Section 2. That the Executive Director is authorized to negotiate and enter into subsequent agreements, amendments and approve reimbursement requests with the New Mexico DFA Infrastructure Planning and Development Division regarding ASR Project funding and to take any other action necessary to carry out the directives of this resolution.
