Approving an Increase of Contract 2011-0092 with Sensus USA Inc. for Continued Implementation of the Advanced Meter System
b
Conservation is a critical component of the Water Authority’s newly adopted 100-year water plan entitled Water 2120: Securing our Water Future. Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters provide near real-time water usage data that can be used to help customers reduce over usage such as leaks or excessive landscape watering. Conservation measures taken now reduce the need to obtain additional water supplies in the future. The Water Authority has successfully installed AMI towers, associated AMI infrastructure, and approximately 130,000 AMI meters, which has already replaced approximately 62% of water meters throughout the distribution system.
Summary:
An increase to contract# CCN 2011-0092 with Sensus USA Inc. for continued implementation of the Advanced Meter System. The increase to the maximum contract amount by $10,000,000.00 will be used to complete the installation of AMI meters over the next several years, and provide matching funds as per R-21-31. In addition to automated metering, the Water Authority utilizes the AMI network for leak detection and pressure zone monitoring which is consistent with Policy D of Water 2120 - Securing our Water Future.
If approved by the Board, an amended PO/agreement will be issued by the Water Authority to enable Vendor to continue to provide hardware and services for the Advanced Meter System implementation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The previously approved board amount of $22,440,000.00 will need to be increased to $32,440,000.00, included applicable taxes. The AMI program is appropriated $2,000,000.00 annually per Policy.
