Authorizing the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to Submit an Application for Funding to the Bureau of Reclamation for a WaterSMART Grant for Drought Resiliency Projects

WHEREAS, the Bureau of Reclamation is offering WaterSMART grants of up to $750,000 for drought resiliency projects; and
WHEREAS, the cost share on the grant must be 50% or more of the total project; and
WHEREAS, the water resources management plan, WATER2120 was approved in September of 2016 and identifies specific drought resiliency projects; and
WHEREAS, connection of the north-side and south-side non-potable systems was a selected alternative of WATER2120 to provide for flexibility of water reuse which will assist in both drought resiliency and aquifer storage and recovery projects.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WATER AUTHORITY:
Section 1. That the Executive Director is authorized to submit an application to the Bureau of Reclamation requesting up to $750,000 for drought resiliency projects in accordance with the adopted water resources management strategy entitled Water 2120.
