Authorizing the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to Submit an Application for Match Funds through the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration for the Aquifer Storage and Recovery Project

WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority) is seeking match funding from the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration (NM DFA) for the plan and design of the Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project; and

WHEREAS, the ASR project will expand the recharge capacity at the Drinking Water Treatment Plant Large-Scale Recharge project through the addition of a ASR wells and the associated conveyance piping; and 

WHEREAS, the ASR project provides the ability to store San Juan-Chama water in the aquifer to meet customer demand during periods of reduced surface water supply; and

WHEREAS, the match funding request for the ASR Project will be $400,000 from NM DFA funding, which will be coupled with existing WaterSMART funds ($400,000) to plan and design the ASR Project. 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WATER AUTHORITY:

Section 1.                     That an application for match funding for the ASR Project, be submitted to the NM DFA.

Section 2.                     That the Executive Director shall have the authority to enter into an agreement associated with the financial assistance.

Section 3.                     That the Executive Director will work with the NM DFA to meet established deadlines for entering into a cooperative agreement.
