RESOLUTION

Authorizing the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to Submit an Application for Funding to the New Mexico Environment Department Clean Water State Revolving Fund for a Non-Potable Water Reuse Treatment Plant

WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority) intends to seek funding from the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) for the construction of a Non-Potable Water Reuse Treatment Plant; and

WHEREAS, water recycling both potable and non-potable uses is a cornerstone of the Water Authority’s long-term resource management strategy, WATER 2120.; and 

WHEREAS, the proposed Non-Potable Water Reuse Treatment Plant supports the Water Authority’s 100-year vision by enabling the reuse of water for irrigation of parks, schools, and other recreational areas, thereby conserving high-quality drinking water for essential uses; and

WHEREAS, the Water Authority anticipates requesting up to $400 million in funding from NMED CWSRF to support the planning, design, and construction of the Non-Potable Water Reuse Treatment Plant. 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WATER AUTHORITY:

Section 1.                     That the Water Authority is hereby authorized to submit an application to the New Mexico Environment Department Clean Water State Revolving Fund for funding to support the Non-Potable Water Reuse Treatment Plant.

Section 2.                     That the Executive Director is authorized to enter into any agreements necessary to secure and administer the financial assistance.

Section 3.                     That the Executive Director shall coordinate with NMED CWSRF to ensure compliance with all deadlines and requirements for entering into a cooperative agreement.
