Authorizing the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to Accept Grant Award/Agreement CG-02F89701-0 with the United States Environmental Protection Agency for the Aquifer Storage and Recovery Project

WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority) has been awarded Grant Agreement No. CG-02F89701-0 from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the amount of $512,320 to support the Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project; and

WHEREAS, the ASR Project is a vital part of the Water Authority's 100-year Water Plan (Water 2120);

WHEREAS, this new project will recharge San Juan-Chama surface water directly into the ground for recovery to meet demand, when needed in the future; and 

WHEREAS, the Water Authority will utilize the EPA grant funding to support the planning, permitting, and design of the new Arroyo del Oso ASR Project, advancing its commitment to sustainable infrastructure and public health protection.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WATER AUTHORITY:

Section 1.                     That the following budget adjustments are hereby approved to reflect the acceptance of EPA grant funding for the Arroyo del Osa ASR Project:

Section 2.                     That the Executive Director is hereby authorized to negotiate, execute, and administer all necessary agreements, amendments, and reimbursement requests with the United States Environmental Protection Agency related to the Aquifer Storage and Recovery Project. The Executive Director is further authorized to take any and all actions required to implement the provisions of this Resolution and ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of the grant award.
