Authorizing the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to Apply for Funding to the Water Trust Board for the Expansion of the Drinking Water Treatment Plant Large-Scale Recharge (ASR) Project

WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority) intends to seek funding through the New Mexico Water Trust Board (WTB) through the New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) for the expansion of its Drinking Water Treatment Plant Large-Scale Recharge (ASR) Project; and

WHEREAS, the ASR Project enables the storage of San Juan-Chama water within the aquifer system to support future demand, particularly during periods of limited surface water supply availability; and

WHEREAS, the ASR Project represents a critical component of the Water Authority's 100-year Water Plan (Water 2120); and

WHEREAS, the Water Authority will request $18 million in WTB funding and commit to providing 20% local match, totaling approximately $3.6 million.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WATER AUTHORITY:

Section 1.                     That the Water Authority is hereby authorized to apply NMFA for WTB funding in support of the ASR Project.

Section 2.                     That the Water Authority shall contribute approximately $3.6 million in matching funds for the project.

Section 3.                     That the Executive Director shall have the authority to enter into an agreement associated with the financial assistance.

Section 4.                     That the Executive Director is directed to coordinate with the NMFA and WTB to meet all applicable deadlines and requirements associated with entering into a cooperative agreement.
