Authorizing the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to Apply for the Small Surface Water and Ground Water Storage Project Grant Financial Assistance for the Arroyo Del Oso Aquifer Storage and Recovery Project

WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority) is seeking Small Surface Water and Ground Water Storage Project grant funding assistance for the Arroyo del Oso Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project; and
WHEREAS, the ASR Project enables the storage of San Juan-Chama water within the aquifer system to support future demand, particularly during periods of limited surface water supply availability; and
WHEREAS, the ASR Project represents a critical component of the Water Authority's 100-year Water Plan (Water 2120); and
WHEREAS, the Water Authority desires utilizing Arroyo del Oso Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project grant funding to construct the Arroyo del Oso Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WATER AUTHORITY:
Section 1. That an application for Small Surface Water and Ground Water Storage Project grant funding assistance for the Arroyo del Oso Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) Project, be submitted to the US Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation.
Section 2. That Water Authority will provide a cost sharing amount of 25% of the total project cost.
Section 3. That the Executive Director shall have the authority to enter into an agreement and meet all established deadlines.
