Authorizing the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to Apply for Funding from the Water Trust Board for Phase 9 of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project

WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority) seeks funding from the New Mexico Water Trust Board (WTB) through the New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA), to implement Phase 9 of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure Project (AMI Project); and

WHEREAS, the AMI Project Phase 9 will replace approximately 14,000 aging meters with modern smart meters, resulting in improved billing accuracy, cost savings,  and enhanced  water conservation efforts; and

WHEREAS, Phase 9 of the AMI Project is estimated to conserve approximately 123 million gallons of water annually; and

WHEREAS, the Water Authority intends to request $3 million in funding from the WTB, with a $1 million local match provided by the Water Authority.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WATER AUTHORITY:

Section 1.                     That the Water Authority is authorized to submit a funding application to the WTB for Phase 9 of the AMI Project.

Section 2.                     That the Water Authority shall contribute approximately $1 million in matching funds toward the implementation of Phase 9.

Section 3.                     That the Executive Director shall have the authority to enter into an agreement associated with the financial assistance.

Section 4.                     That the Executive Director shall coordinate with the NMFA and WTB to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements and meet established deadlines for entering into a cooperative agreement.
