Authorizing the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to Submit an Application for Funding to the Water Trust Board for the Expansion of Drinking Water Treatment Plant Large-Scale Recharge Project

WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority) is seeking New Mexico Water Trust Board (WTB) funding through the New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) for the Expansion of its Drinking Water Treatment Plant Large-Scale Recharge Project (ASR Project); and

WHEREAS, the ASR Project provides the ability to store San Juan-Chama water in the aquifer to meet future demand, particularly in years of limited surface water supply availability; and

WHEREAS, the ASR Project is a vital part of the Water Authority's 100-year Water Plan (Water 2120); and

WHEREAS, the funding request for the ASR Project will be $15 million from the WTB funding with 10% matching funds by the Water Authority.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE WATER AUTHORITY:

Section 1.                     That an application for funding from the WTB for the ASR Project will be submitted to the NMFA.

Section 2.                     That the Water Authority will provide approximately $1.5 million in in matching funds.

Section 3.                     That the Executive Director shall have the authority to enter into an agreement associated with the financial assistance.

Section 4.                     That the Executive Director will work with the NMFA and WTB to meet established deadlines for entering into a cooperative agreement.
