Approval of Contract with Atlas Polar for the Purchase of HB9100 HydroBrush Switchout System

This service was procured pursuant to the authority contained in Section 7, Exemptions from the Procurement Ordinance, of the Rules Governing Procurement for the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority. Resolution R-18-14 requires board approval for any purchase in an amount exceeding $500,000.00.
Requesting approval to enter into an agreement with Atlas Polar to purchase HB9100 HydroBrush Switchout system through the issuance of a purchase order. The Hydrobrush system is a brush system that cleans the intake screens at the Alameda Raw Water Intake structure where raw water from the Rio Grande is diverted and, together with the Raw Water Pump Station, delivered to the SJCWTP for subsequent treatment and potable supply to Albuquerque. There are two separate customized brush systems (one for each intake channel) that keep the intake screens cleans so that water can continuously be diverted. These brush systems are critical equipment components that requires electrical and mechanical upgrades in order to remain operable/functional.
If approved by the Board, a purchase order will be issued by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to enable Atlas Polar to purchase and install the HB9100 HydroBrush.
Approval of this item shall also serve as delegation of authority for the Executive Director to approve all future amendments to this purchase order, if any.
FISCAL IMPACT:
$766,000.49 which amount includes NM GRT.
