Suspending Certain Provisions of the Water and Sewer Rate Ordinance for the Fiscal Year Ending June 30, 2022

                     WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority (Water Authority) annually updates the Water and Sewer Rate Ordinance (Ordinance) to adjust the Utility Expansion Charge, Septic Tank Charge, and Chemical Toilet Charge based on the ENR Building and Construction Cost Indexes; and

                     WHEREAS, this annual adjustment is made in accordance with sections 1-1-8(A)(1) and 1-1-9(G)(1)(2) of the Ordinance, and

                     WHEREAS, the Ordinance is amended to update the effective dates of the Water Resource Charge phase-in schedule; and

                     WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused economic hardship to many in our community and the Water Authority has responded by temporarily suspending late fees and disconnections for non-payment until further notice; and

                     WHEREAS, the Water Authority wishes to take further steps to mitigate the economic impact of COVID-19 among its customers.

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE WATER AUTHORITY:                     

                     For the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2022, the Water Authority will temporarily suspend any increase of the Utility Expansion Charge, Septic Tank Charge, and Chemical Toilet Charge based on the ENR Building and Construction Cost Indexes and will temporarily suspend the Water Resource Charge phase-in schedule.
