2022 Annual Operating Plan

b

SUMMARY:

The 2022 projections of river flows indicate that there will be lower than average conditions throughout the Rio Grande watershed. It is anticipated that surface water flows will require the Water Authority to curtail San Juan-Chama (SJC) water diversions between mid-June and mid-September. The actual dates of curtailment will be determined in real-time based on observed river flows and coordination with regional water agencies. Demand not met by surface water will be served with groundwater. The Water Authority also plans to operate both of its aquifer storage and recovery projects during the surface water operation period, adding as much as 2,400 acre-feet to its storage accounts.

The Water Authority will coordinate its SJC water releases to augment flows for recreational rafting on the Rio Chama in partnership with Reclamation and the City of Santa Fe.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.
